An Honorable Sport

Golf is an honourable sport played between ladies and gentlemen in accordance with the international R&A (The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews) rules. Golfers follow these rules out of respect for the game, their fellow international golfers and most importantly themselves. Cheating is frowned upon on and off the golf course, before, during and after the game.

 Scoring Mechanics in 2022

 We changed the -0.25 [quarter birdie] for each EXTRA ROUND played to -0.5 [half birdie]

  • A golfer scores an EAGLE [-2] for each unique golf course played during the challenge.
  • A golfer scores half a BIRDIE [-0.5] for each extra round of golf played a course during the challenge.
Motivation

Golfer A plays 12 different golf courses and scores;
(12 x -2 [eagles]) = -24
Golfer B plays 48 rounds of golf at his/her home course and scores;
(1 x -2 [eagle]) + (47 x -0.25 [quarter birdies]) = -13.75

The core of the 1TGOLF challenge is to have golfers compete through their love for the golf. The act of playing golf is rewarded using a point system. The aforementioned formula is FLAWED in that it equates the love of a golfer that plays 48 rounds of golf at his home club as 50% LESS than that of a golfer that plays 12 different golf clubs.

After Adjustment

Golfer A plays 12 different golf courses and scores;
(12 x -2 [eagles]) = -24
Golfer B plays 48 rounds of golf at his/her home course and scores;
(1 x -2 [eagle] + 47 x -0.5 [half birdies]) = -25.5

The core of the 1TGOLF challenge is to have golfers compete through their love for the golf. The act of playing golf is rewarded using a point system. The aforementioned formula is more EQUAL in that it equates the love of a golfer that plays 48 rounds of golf at his home club as more EQUAL to that of a golfer that plays 12 different golf clubs.

Proof of Rounds Played

From 1 May 2022 golfers are requested to keep evidence (photos or like) of their rounds played in case of a round review request made into their golf rounds captured on HNA from 1 May 2022 onwards by another golfer. Evidence that may be requested during a review may include any of the following but is not limited too; a photo of a completed scorecard with date of play and minimum one other golfer or marker, photo of paid green fee receipt or golfer handicap calculation on date of play, social media photos taken on the day of play.

 Scoring Mechanics for 2023

 To change the current -2 [eagle] for each UNIQUE 9 HOLE ROUND played to -1 [birdie] and the -0.5 [half birdie] for each EXTRA 9 HOLE ROUND played to -0.25 [a quarter birdie]

  • A golfer scores an EAGLE [-2] for 18 holes played on each unique golf course during the challenge.
  • A golfer scores a BIRDIE [-1] for 9 holes played on each unique golf course during the challenge.

  • A golfer scores half a BIRDIE [-0.5] for 18 holes played on each extra round of golf played on an already played golf course during the challenge.
  • A golfer scores quarter BIRDIE [-0.25] for 9 holes played on each extra round of golf played on an already played golf course during the challenge.
Motivation

Golfer A plays 12 different golf courses 18 holes every round;
(12 x -2 [eagles]) = -24
Golfer B plays 24 different golf courses 9 Holes every round;
(24 x -2 [eagles]) = -48

The core of the 1TGOLF challenge is to have golfers compete through their love for the golf. The act of playing golf is rewarded using a point system. The aforementioned formula is slightly FLAWED in that it equates the love of a golfer that plays more golf rounds but equal golf holes as DOUBLE that of a golfer that plays 12 different golf clubs but the same amount of golf holes.

After Adjustment

Golfer A plays 12 different golf courses 18 holes every round;
(12 x -2 [eagles]) = -24
Golfer B plays 24 different golf courses 9 Holes every round;
(24 x -1 [birdie]) = -24

The core of the 1TGOLF challenge is to have golfers compete through their love for the golf. The act of playing golf is rewarded using a point system. The aforementioned formula is more EQUAL in that it equates the love of a golfer that plays 12 different golf clubs but 18 holes per round as EQUAL to that of a golfer that plays 24 different golf clubs but only 9 holes each.

NEW  To introduce a -3 [albatross] for each UNIQUE INTERNATIONAL ROUND played, meaning a unique golf course played outside South Africa.

  • A golfer must notify 1TGOLF of a played international round.
  • A golfer must provide photographic evidence of international rounds played. The identifying elements of the photos must be of;
    • Course Played
    • Date Played
    • Scorecard of Round Played
    • Golfer actually playing the Course
    • Other Golfers playing with the Golfer
    So charge your phone the day before playing and take a boat load of photos because you get to do something every golfer dreams about.
  • 1TGOLF will allocate the round played to the golfer.
  • Golfers score an once-off -3 [albatross] only for each unique international golf course played, regardless of how many times they played the same international golf course.
Motivation

The core of the 1TGOLF challenge is to have golfers compete through their love for the golf. The act of playing golf is rewarded using a point system. The aforementioned formula takes into ACCOUNT the investment made by a golfer to play an international golf course.

After Adjustment

A Golfer plays 1 international golf course;
(1 x -3 [albatross]) = -3
